Traditionally, the inhabitants
of Newfoundland and Labrador were dependant upon the inshore fishery
of several marine species including Atlantic Cod, Capelin, Squid and
Lobster as a primary source of income and staple diet resource. In recent,
years due to the collapse of the inshore fishery the presence of a
fisherman and boat is slowly diminishing.
The photographs featured in
the Fishery of Newfoundland and Labrador Gallery are a representation of fisher people and their way of life.
