THE FISHERY
of
NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR

Traditionally, the inhabitants of Newfoundland and Labrador  were dependant upon the inshore fishery of several marine species including Atlantic Cod, Capelin, Squid and Lobster as a primary source of income and staple diet resource. In recent, years due to the collapse of the inshore fishery the presence of a fisherman and boat is slowly diminishing.

The photographs featured in the Fishery of Newfoundland and Labrador Gallery are a representation of fisher people and their way of life.
